A History Of Great Food, Back For Today

Over 30 years ago the Nicklow brothers - Bill, Jimmy & Tony, opened the Shorewood Inn alongside the north shore of Moore Lake in Fridley.  Since 1971 they kept the community smiling with their famous Greek hospitality and fine food that ranged from Nicklow family favorites like their original gyros made on the vertical spit to popular American fare. Meanwhile the brothers kept expanding their family restaurant operations into other part of the metro area.

Over the 80's and 90's older brother Bill and younger brother Tony spread their wings to create Nicklow's Cafe and Bar in Spring Lake Park, with Bill at the helm, and Tony headed up the Nicklow's in Crystal, then later opened Santorini in St. Louis Park, which moved to Eden Prairie in December of 2008.

As the family spread out, Jim Nicklow decided it was the perfect time to take early retirement, and in 2004 he leased the historic Shorewood site to the Crab House Music Cafe which failed after four years.  He then was left holding the property and the decision to sell or re-open it himself in 2009.  "I always had a warm, sentimental spot for this lakeside restaurant - and it has always been close to my heart so, after much thought and consideration, I decided I would give it another shot." Jim explained.

"I made a decision to put my heart and soul into the operation, remodel the space, update the menu and rename the restaurant the Shorewood Bar & Grill. I am thrilled to be in the mix again," he added.
